When I go there in the end of January, it is nice weather so that I could go by my Honda fit which is not 4WD but no problem
at all, very lucky day I guess. All the lake's serface was iced so I could walk on it. 30-40min to Taushubetsu bridge by walk, which is a mysterious object on the lake. In the winter, because of lake's short water, the bridge seams to be emarged on the lake only in the winter.
Beautiful landmark, in a quiet location with little to no tourists.
Beautiful scenery around an old railroad bridge. With the construction of the Nukabira Dam, the bridge became submerged for part of every year. It's now falling apart, and part of the bridge is likely to fall down in the next few years.
Nice looking old bridge. We saw it from the opposite side of the lake. There was a car park on route 273 and a short walk to the riverside where you can get a good view.
Incredible place. However be careful with the route around the lake in the forest which it shown on google maps: It exists only on the map.
The bridge can be seen only when the water level goes down. Visit in Winter.
2023.10.11 I participated in the early morning tour.
We gathered at 6:05 in the morning, changed into rain boots, and departed by wagon.
Blessed with good weather, I was impressed by the combination of the wonderful scenery and the decayed bridge♪
It was so deteriorated that it was hard to believe that it was a concrete bridge, and it was hard to believe that it was only a few decades old.
Guided by our guide, we crossed the Taushubetsu River and were able to see the scenery from both the left and right sides.
Looking at the photos, I easily thought that the river wasn't that deep, but in reality, I couldn't cross the river without rain boots, so I think it's convenient for travelers from far away to join a tour that lends rain boots. .
The guide also brought along photos and documents from the past, and explained things in detail while comparing the past with the present.
This bridge was used for transporting lumber during the Japanese National Railways era.
I happened to have a tour available in September, so I made a reservation and participated in the early morning tour!
Originally, it was used for water at this time of year, but since there was little rainfall, we were able to see it. Although it was mid-September, the temperature was 13 degrees.
It was fun not only to see the scenery, but also to see the reinforcement and coarse aggregate of the bridge.
I want to go again.
